The intent of the Ed.D. degree in College Leadership at the University of South Florida is to develop the competencies of educational practitioners in two- and four-year colleges and to obtain and synthesize knowledge for the solution of educational problems and practices. The Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration prepares individuals interested in teaching and research positions in community colleges and four-year colleges and universities. In addition, individuals who intend to pursue state and national policy positions are enrolled in both the Ed.D. and the Ph.D. programs, depending upon their areas of interest.
Higher education courses are offered on the main USF-Tampa campus. All classes are held in the evenings or on Saturdays, year round. A few selected support courses in the doctoral program (such as statistics) are typically scheduled on the Tampa campus during weekday evenings (not Saturdays).
