Our department offers three broad areas of concentration: the historical and socio-cultural study of education which provides historical, sociological, anthropological, and comparative/ international perspectives on educational trends and issues; a higher education focus upon research concerning higher education policies, programs, and services, including student affairs; and a measurement and evaluation concentration which focuses upon approaches to evaluating educational policies and programs, advancing critical quantitative techniques used in such evaluation settings, as well as examining the relationships among ethics and educational policy analysis. We have recently participated in the Carnegie Foundation Project on the Education Doctorate with with an emphasis on Community and Technical College Leadership. Approximately 20% of our enrollment are community & technical college faculty, staff, and administrators.
