Program Emphasis

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign offers the Community College Executive Leadership (CCEL) program, which is a weekend cohort program for working professionals throughout the state of Illinois. The program emphasizes theory, research, and practice pertinent to contemporary community college leadership, and graduates of this program assume positions of leadership from the presidency to the dean. Students interested in full-time Ph.D.studies on campus at UIUC can also enroll in the Higher Education program in the Department of EOL, with a specialization in CCL. In addition to programs having an administrative focus, students interested in professional developmment opportunities for community college faculty can enroll in the Community College Teaching and Learning (CCTL) Online program, offered by the Human Resource Education Department. Instituted as a non-degree program, CCTL offers the master's degree for students who complete all courses required for the degree, or a certificate for those completing one-half of the full program or four units (16 graduate hours).
